L1 pyramid filter

Aerodynamic Features

Eiffel type wind tunnel with return hall, installed power 650 kW, variable speed 0 to 75 m/s. Test section 2.40 m.

Test Section Configurations

  • 3 configurations: plain walls, semiguided with floor and open jet
  • Generation of atmospheric boundary layer possible

Types of Setup

  • MONNIN balance with 1, 2 or 3 masts: for longitudinal and lateral aerodynamic characterization
  • Single mast: 1 single motorized mast in incidence and sideslip
  • Turntable setup: for azimuthal adjustment of models mounted on the floor
  • PQR dynamic setup: sting mounting with 3 rotational degrees of freedom
  • "XYZ" triaxial displacement system: for positioning probes in a 60% range of the test cross section

Types of Tests

  • Measurements of aerodynamic forces
  • Measurements of pressure and velocity
  • Visualization of flows

Instrumentation

The L1 wind tunnel has an analog to digital conversion card (64 channels), a relay card (32 channels), a DSP card (8 channels) at 196 kHz per channel, installed in a VXI chassis. Added to these are a 2 channel spectrum analyzer, a pressure acquisition system (96 channels) and a hotwire measurement system (8 channels). An argon laser is used in the tomoscopy visualizations. A recording system allows acquisition and processing of the images in digital form or reproduction on videotape.
