L2 Site Wind Tunnel

Balance de paroi: mesure de 6 composantes aérodynamiques
Model of the L2 Site Wind-Tunnel

Aerodynamic characteristics

  • Installed power: 135 kW
  • Velocity: 0 to 19 m/s
  • Standard test section: L = 9 m, l = 6 m, H = 2.5 m
  • Motor-driven 6-meter turntable

Setup Types

This wind tunnel is especially well suited to testing complete industrial or urban sites. A grid can be introduced to simulate the atmospheric boundary layer over the site, by deforming the vertical velocity gradient.

The models are oriented in the wind rose by a turntable, 6 m in diameter.

A wall balance measures the six aerodynamic components simultaneously.

The probes are positioned by a computer-controlled three-axis "XYZ" displacement system, with position measurement.

Test Types

  • Measurements of Forces and Moments, Pressures, Velocities, Temperatures
  • Flow Visualizations

Instrumentation

The L2 wind-tunnel is used with :

  • a VXI frame that includes
    • an integrated extensometry system
    • an acquisition card with analogic channel, and thermocouple
    • a relay card
    • a 8-channel DSP card
    • a fonction generation card
  • a PSI 8400 pressure acquisition chain (256-channel)
  • a 4-channel CO2 analyser
  • a 6-channel hot wire conditionning chain
  • a 5W yag laser for tomoscopy visualisation
  • PIV measurement capability
