Turbomachinery Aerodynamics

The Turbomachinery team of the H2T unit in the applied aerodynamics department performs calculations for predicting the aerodynamic performances of compressors and turbines. By analyzing the flows within these engine components, we get a better understanding of the different aerodynamic phenomena and are thus able to improve the machines' performances.

These calculations are mainly done using a Navier-Stokes approach, performed in 3D and in Quasi-3D, on single rotor configurations (steady calculations), or in stages (unsteady calculations). The Turbomachinery team is involved in various activities, in collaboration with manufacturers and research centers (Industrial Turbomachinery Research Consortium) or within the framework of national and European research programs.
