ONERA and micro energy sources : the micro gas turbine engine
Context
For some years, tendency to miniaturisation has led to reproduce and/or adapt existing technologies at very small scales. Hence, a complete range of “portable” or “nomadic” objects currently exist. Among these objects, which need more or less energy, the vast majority is supplied by batteries.
With the development of the micro gas turbine engine, ONERA embarks on the field of the micro sources of energy to dethrone batteries for some applications, and more particularly for the supply of micro drones or robots. The development of the micro gas turbine engine takes place in a Federating Research Project called PRF DecaWATT.
