Electromagnetism and Radar
Facilities
The purpose of the technical resources developed by the DEMR is to demonstrate the feasibility of new concepts and/or to provide measurement data for simulation and the resetting of numerical models. These main resources are:
- the Nostradamus radar for over the horizon detection and ionospheric measurements,
- the Ramses and Sethi SAR radars, installed on a Transall and Falcon 20, respectively for studies of high-resolution polarimetric radar imagery and for remote sensing,
- Meric, a ground radar system for the high-resolution polarimetric analysis of targets, and radar cross-section measurements in both monostatic and bistatic modes,
- Busard, a flying test bed (Stemme S10-VT powered glider) dedicated to the study, design, integration and in flight demonstration of new generation payloads for drones (co-owned with Onera-Sagem),
- two anechoic chambers, Camera and Babi (bistatic), for fine measurements of the electromagnetic signatures of targets,
- one anechoic chamber for electromagnetic studies and another for measurements of antenna radiation,
- an Earth-Space propagation measurement platform, equipped with a varied set of powerful instruments,
- an electromagnetic modeling facility (Pame) designed to coordinate code development activities in the areas of stealth and electromagnetic compatibility
