SIRENE
Irradiation facility for the study of surface and internal charging by means of an
electron source with a "space like" energy distribution in the range 10-400 keV

Objectives
- Study of voltage building on spacecraft dielectric materials and equipment samples for geostationary orbit, evaluation of material properties and protections
- Characterization of discharges
- Measurement of natural and radiation induced conductivity of materials
Characteristics
- Pressure ~ 10-6 hPa
- Spectral distribution of electrons (10-400 keV, 0-2 nA/cm²) representative of a geomagnetic activity of a HARD day
- Irradiation cross section : diameter = 200 mm
- Temperature range (-190/+150°C)
- Instrumentation with photography, current probes (sampling at 1 ns, bandwith 300 Mhz) and voltage probes (-20, +20kV)...
Funding
- Centre National d'Etudes Spatiales (CNES)
- Office National d'Etudes et de Recherches Aérospatiales (ONERA)
