Compensated drag sensor and flight in formation
In expectation of the future gravitational wave detection mission, Lisa, and the future geodesics missions that will use interferometry between masses in purely gravitational orbit, Onera has maintained a scientific and technological observatory.
In 2005, as part of research on flight in formation, preliminary studies
into the feasibility and technology
were proposed on such points as the specific definition of the drag-free sensor, full scale ground test of the drag compensation system, and use of the angular accelerometer performance for fine pointing of satellites in formation. This latter study, associated with aspects in the optics field, was retained for a limited contribution to the R&T research for the second half of 2005.
