Organic matrix composites are widely used in aerospace industry. However, to produce reliable and performing materials increasingly, it is necessary to investigate their properties, damage mechanisms, damage tolerance and durability on different dimension scales of laminates. Research is conducted within the following areas:

• assessment of fibre and matrix properties using chemical and thermomechanical facilities
• micromechanical aspects of components to describe their elementary behaviour and relate them to the overall behaviour of laminates
• analysis of physical properties and damage state of laminates subjected to thermal and/or mechanical stresses
