The elsA-ExFan-sAbrinA-kif computation chain was first applied to a turbojet model tested in the DNW’s anechoic wind tunnel as part of the European Ducat project, and also used as reference case in the TurboNoiseCFD project.
Above: elsA simulation of the generation of the angular mode of rank m = -2, due to the interaction of the rotor wake (16 blades) with the stator (18 blades). Below: sAbrinA simulation of the propagation and acoustic radiation of this mode.

The upstream farfield directivities found by coupling sAbrinA with a Kirchhoff integral (Kif code) are in good agreement with the measurements, and the figure below shows. In particular, the very pronounced extinction lobes due to the interferences between upstream and downstream radiation (both included in the computation) are predicted perfectly.
