Modeling and Information ProcessingANAÏS 3D - Analysis in 3D imagingObjective
ContextThe market for large scale 3D mapping, particularly of urban sites, has expanded considerably in recent years. This is first of all due to the progress made in observation devices: different civil space programs have recently given us the ability to obtain optical resolutions better than 1 meter (Quickbird, the future Pleiades system); this resolution is already possible by airborne SAR and should be available from space by 2007 (Cosmo-Skymed, Sar-Lupe). This is also being developed in response to the various needs expressed by ever more numerous and varied customers: from civil telecommunications to the mission preparation of precision weapons systems, as far as the military market is concerned. Onera's ContributionWithin this context, for several years now, the DTIM has been conducting different amont studies concerning the interpretation of 3D maps and models according to the different physical methods of acquisition (optical and radar stereoscopy, optical side-looking systems, SAR interferometry). The study topics cover not only the problem of calibrating observation systems but also the problems of creating matches between images, extracting superstructures on one or more images and merging the 3D information.
