Modeling and Information ProcessingFusion
Objectives
ContributionThe continuing progress of information and communication technologies and the multiplication of their applications have confirmed the control of information as a major issue and a predominant factor in success. In the defense field, considerable effort is being devoted to developing more open intelligence architectures, favoring, for example, the use of multiple and varied sources of observations. The main expectations are an improvement of military effectiveness due to the superiority of information, shared situation awareness and increased accuracy of effects. The fusion work at the DTIM mainly concerns the technical aspects covering the integration, processing and fusion of multiple data flows, addressing, amongst others, different difficulties like the architecture of data and intelligence fusion systems, system modeling, evaluation of systems' interoperability capabilities, algorithms for fusion multi-sensor data based on mathematical theories conducive to the management of the variety, reliability and pertinence of the data handled or even the management of sensors. The DTIM has widely varied activity in the data fusion field because it also contributes its expertise at the level of the different industrial and state entities by participating in national steering groups and international workgroups.
