Mechanical modeling and numerical simulation
Presentation
The numerical simulation of physical phenomena has become a major question in the design phase of any aeronautic or space system. This discipline has to deal with new requirements arising from the richness and complexity of the phenomena to be simulated which therefore have to take into account multi-scale and multi-physical aspects. The existence of codes that simulate physical phenomena precisely and rapidly opens up new possibilities for research in the field of optimization and control.
With the development of basic techniques spanning the various objectives of the scientific branches at Onera, the Mathematical Modeling and Numerical Simulation Unit [M2SN] offers expertise at all levels, from mathematical modeling to numerical simulation. The orientation of the studies and the research is associated for the most part with the general policy orientations at Onera in the matter of numerical simulation. The M2SN unit is participating in internal research projects at Onera, as well as the development of its large codes.
