IESTA

SimSky: Large-scale future ATS concepts study

The IESTA / SimSky application is an initiative to study large-scale, innovative ATS concepts which is currently being developed by Onera in Toulouse. Below are some sample scenarios which could be simulated using IESTA / Simsky.

Automation

This scenario is an outcome from the requirements given by the European project IFATS (Innovative Future Air Transport System). This operational concept is based on a 4D contract (x, y, z, t) given to the aircraft, implying an extreme automation of both the piloting and control tasks.

Maximum automation, contracts generation

SESAR Business Trajectory

This scenario is an outcome from the SESAR Programme needs, especially the Business Trajectory (BT) which is the baseline of the SESAR operational concept. This BT includes strategic, pre-tactic and tactic parts. This use-case mostly covers the strategic part of the flights.

Unmanned Aircraft Systems

This scenario is related to the insertion of UAS in the air traffic. It will benefit from the UAS projects led for several years, noticeably from the IFATS project. The French Defense Ministry also showed its direct interest in such a scenario in the frame of the SESAR Programme.
