Creation of Eurakel - European Aeroelasticity KE and Laboratory

Onera and the DLR in Germany have signed an agreement in principle to cooperate even more closely in the field of aeroelasticity.

By signing an agreement in principle concerning the creation of Eurakel last October, Onera and the DLR have decided to get their specialists in aeroelasticity to cooperate more closely. This bringing together of two comparable structures, each the employing around sixty people, Onera's Structural Dynamics and Coupled Systems department and the DLR's Aeroelasticity Institute in Gottingen, officially seals an approach already applied for the last twenty years.

Vladiimir Fortov et Claudie Haignré Vibration tests on the A380 Let us remember that in practice during civil aircraft vibration test campaigns, like that carried out on the A380 at the start of 2005, the Onera and DLR teams worked as a joint team. "With Eurakel, which will be applied gradually, we will be going further than simply cooperating, it is a question of having joint objectives and resources in order to be more effective in the development of all of our work. This is why we need to jointly define the programs of these two bodies which will, nevertheless, retain reserved fields", summed up Pierre-Marie Hutin, the Department's Director.
