Return on innovation, our new signature

Onera’s mission is to be a pioneer in aerospace, by transforming its research into solutions and then these solutions into successes for those who invest in the adventure.

Onera has never lost sight of how its research work can be applied. There are a lot of examples: metal alloys – AM1 and AM3 – in Turbomeca's helicopter engines, radar systems such as the Graves space monitoring system recently delivered to the Air Force, ultra-sensitive accelerometers supplied "turn-key" to space agencies for scientific missions in space...

Innovation is never lacking with the wind tunnel work, the people, the unique measuring and visualization facilities, numerical simulation software, all benefiting from whole swaths of our theoretical and experimental knowledge, a network of experts at the top of their respective scientific and technical disciplines, all geared to the success of large national and European programs. The Airbus family, the Eurocopter range, Ariane 5, the Rafale, the Falcon 7X, all spectacular feats which Onera has contributed to!

On the strength of its "returns on innovation", Onera has just been awarded the Carnot label.  This award recognizes the research establishments which work closely in partnership with industry. By financing upstream research projects, this label will help Onera increase its "resourcing"; that is, to anticipate future needs and develop the know-how to meet them.

Undertaking research work today is an investing for a return on innovation tomorrow!
