Onera introduces new baseline, Return on Innovation

Châtillon, January 29, 2007 – Onera has rebranded itself as “The French Aerospace Lab”, and is introducing a new baseline, “Return on Innovation”. These changes are designed to more clearly express the identity and ambition of the French aerospace research organization.

In public research, cost-effectiveness and enhancing scientific and technological influence have become more important than ever. Onera provides a model of how to leverage the benefits of research for industry, the national government and Europe.

The French Aerospace Lab

Onera has nearly twice as many European contracts per researcher as the average French research organization, and fully one-fourth of its business is carried out in partnership. These figures clearly show the international stature of Onera.

Return on Innovation

Onera also has five times more contract business per researcher than the average in its sector. At Onera, there is a constant focus on evaluating the end results of each project, in terms of industry competitiveness, improved defense and environmental protection, along with career development for the next generation of researchers.
