Life Detection, Monitoring and Localisation

Applications

Finding a burried person.
[Validation test]

 > Protection civile

  • Avalanche or earthquake victim detection.
  • Mine clearance.

 > Médical

  • Remote respiration frequency monitoring.

 > Défense

  • Human presence detection by complete 3D building scan.

 > Génie civil

  • Detection/localization of hidden objects e.g. buried in the ground (pipes) and/or hidden by a wall.

Keywords

  • Signal treatment, Image treatment, Respiration measurement, Human presence detection, Doppler radars.

Advantages

  • Use of unique methods and radars to detect and localize life, with eventual respiration frequency (Patent).
  • Ability to localize moving or stationary electrical conductors.

Testing

  • Heartbeat detection and frequency:
    • Detection of a beating heart, however fast or slow.
    • 10m diameter spherical area covered around antenna.
    • The respiration frequency is found based on the utilisation of the Doppler effect.
    • Very sensitive radar used: HF Pulsing, coherent, multistatic, bifrequencial radar.
  • Localization:
    • Localization possible for any electrical conductors, moving or stationary.
    • Ability to see through various materials (walls, ice, water, tree trunks etc.) by adapting radar frequencies.
    • Localization of the source is based on spectral interferometry techniques in two domains; spatial and spectral.

Total power received by the antennas varying with time.
Shows the associated movements carried out by the victim.
