The B20 catapult bench is a 90-meter-long free-flight test lab that will allow Onera's researchers to study modelling and theory of flight at lower cost and in an environment that is entirely under control.

Other applications will include flight demonstration to test, for example, new concepts of vehicles, control surfaces, control laws, identification and operating method/ methodology.

Last but not least, the B20 will be the place to develop new methods of measurement in aerodynamics and test if those new methods can contribute to solve current aeronautical issues (for instance : LIDAR and PIV techniques for wake characterization).
