A Steering Committee for the European Workshops on Structural Health Monitoring has been created, based on the European members of the International Scientific Committee of SHM 2002. Meeting of the Steering CommitteeOn July 12, 2002, during SHM 2002, the first meeting of the Committee took place. The members of the Steering Committee present at this meeting were : Daniel Balageas, Christian Boller, Fabio Casciati, Jean-Marie Caussignac, Spilios Fassois, Gerard Fernando, Claus-Peter Fritzen, Pierre-François Gobin, Jean-Claude Golinval represented by Pascal De Boe, Alfredo Güemes, Jan Holnicki-Szulc, Richard Lagabrielle, Klas Levin, Nuno Mendes-Maia, Daniel Osmont, Christophe Paget, Michelle Salvia, Wieslaw Staszewski, Moshe Tur, Gunnar Wang. The members unable to attend the conference but willing to participate in the future to the activities of the Steering Committee are: Rune Brincker, Jose Ramon Casas, Brian Culshaw, Wolfang Habel, Daniele Inaudi. Board of the CommitteeFor the practical direction of the Steering Committee a board of three persons have been proposed, constituted of the organizing chairman of the presently conference (Daniel Balageas for SHM 2002), of the organizing chairman of the future conference (Christian Boller), and of a secretary (Alfredo Güemes).
