Damage mechanisms

Our main pages on this subject:

1." Two in one " calculations - Materials for engines - Zoom in the Lab
Jean-Didier Garaud, PhD from the Solid Mechanics and Damage Mechanisms Department (DMSE) is interested, for example, in flow issues in the cooling circuit of the Vulcain2 engine of the Ariane launcher....

2.News Releases - Onera
The result of about fifteen years of studies and research within ONERA's Solid Mechanics and Damage Mechanisms Department (DMSE), the EMIR (Electromagnetic Infra-red) method makes it possible to visualize in 2D the amplitude of an electric field in a broad frequency band (from 500 MHz to more than 20GHz). The sensor used in the technique is made of an extremely thin film (25 microns), which surface is covered with a slightly absorbent deposited layer, and the receiver, made of an infra-red camera....

3.Organic Matrix Composites - ONERA / DMSC-EN
Organic matrix composites are widely used in aerospace industry. However, to produce reliable and performing materials increasingly, it is necessary to investigate their properties, damage mechanisms, damage tolerance and durability on different dimension scales of laminates.. Research is conducted within the following areas : assessment of fibre and matrix properties using chemical and thermomechanical facilities micromechanical aspects of components to describe their elementary behaviour and relate them to the overall behaviour of laminates analysis of physical properties and damage state of laminates subjected to thermal and/or mechanical stresses.

4.SEMIRAMIS - ONERA ' s Technical Resources for the Simulation of Spatial Environment - ONERA / DESP-EN
Studies of damage mechanisms and space environment simulation techniques for low, polar and geostationary earth orbits...
