Onera is taking part in ICE, a project to verify the principle of equivalence on the microscopic scale, using measurements with a cooled atom accelerometer. The instrument was developed in parabolic flight, a first that earned the partners a publication in the journal Nature Communications.

Joint work by Onera and the Kastler Brossel laboratory is leading to progress in knowledge of “twin” photons, with the promise of new quantum applications. 

Campaign to assess the behavior of the Ressac helicopter UAV demonstrator over the sea, for the monitoring of surface ships. 

A reduced-scale combustion chamber model is used for the precise reproduction on a test rig of the ignition performances of a complete configuration. 

A special prize from the European Space Agency (ESA) was given to Sébastien Deck, a CFD specialist at Onera, for his contribution to the understanding of flows around launcher afterbodies. 

A campaign conducted with gliders to collect infrared signatures and background measurements, in order to draw up optronics specifications for anti-collision sensors. 

A new optical method for the observation and measurement of the combustion of aluminum particles in solid propellant engines.

The second IFAR Summit took place in the frame of the Paris Air show and on invitation of ONERA in Méry-sur-Oise, 18–19 June 2011. The participants represent the heads or the high level representatives from 20 aviation research organisations worldwide.
