BLAST: immediate boarding for 4 ONERA researchers

At the beginning of January 2021, Starburst, ONERA, SATT Paris-Saclay and Polytechnique joined forces to launch BLAST, the first French incubation programme designed for deep tech companies in our sector.

The launching of this innovative programme, unprecedented in France, began with a call for applications in spring, and 50 candidates - researchers and start-ups - applied.

After a thorough analysis by the programme partners, 12 start-ups and 8 researchers have been selected and constitute the first group of deep tech players to be supported and boosted under this programme.
 
ONERA is proud to have 4 researchers from its laboratories among these lucky winners.

    Armin TAGHIZAD, DTIS
    Development of a concept of cargo drone, for transporting heavy loads over large distances
     
  • Space
    Nicolas PELLETIER, DMPE
    Development of a reliable system for measuring very high heat flows
     
  • Defence
    Guillaume DRUART, DOTA
    Development of multispectral gas-emission-detection cameras for Security and Defence applications.
     
  • Enabling Technologies
    Guillaume VAUDAUX RUTH (doctoral student) and Adrien CHAN HON TONG, DTIS
    Development of algorithms for monitoring the physical training of sportsmen and women from a video stream.

 

We are happy to contribute to this award through ONERA candidates that have been selected and of whom we are very proud. We also seek to create a BLAST dynamic at ONERA, based on the community of about twenty researchers involved in the BLAST programme as project leaders of scientific mentors of the start-up group. Theses experts will become ambassadors of the programme and of the entrepreneueurial approach within our Office.

About BLAST
BLAST (Boost and Leverage AeroSpace and defence Technologies) is a programme aimed at developing and supporting around twenty start-ups a year. It will also bring together all the players in the ASD ecosystem, from major industrial clients to investment funds. The purpose of this programme is to consolidate a pool of deep tech start-ups capable of participating in major aerospace and defence programmes in future - at the national and European levels - and to respond to the momentum around the support plan for the aeronautics industry presented by the French government in June 2020.
