The ANIMA project, which focused on providing a holistic response to the issue of noise, discomfort, and associated health impacts, is coming to an end. An open and free conference on the project’s results is organised on Thursday 16 December 2021 in Brussels.
For four years, the ANIMA (Aviation Noise Impact Management through Novel Approaches) project, coordinated by ONERA, marked the landscape: ANIMA has endeavoured to associate specialists in aircraft noise with experts in human sciences, air transport stakeholders, and people in charge of land management around airports to provide a holistic response to the issue of noise, discomfort, and associated health impacts.
Beyond the conventional approach to reducing noise at source, the ANIMA consortium - associating twenty-two partners from eleven different countries - has produced a methodology and associated tools to enable airport managers or air transport authorities to implement concerted approaches with their residents, leading to a balanced consensus between the advantages and disadvantages of air transport. Most of the project’s results are freely accessible on the project's noise platform or via OpenAire.
