Specialized in studying take-off and landing configurations of aircrafts at High Reynolds numbers, this low speed pressurized wind tunnel has been used for major civil and military aircraft programs.  High Reynolds number testing at F1 enables the designers to exploit physical limits at high prediction accuracy.

The low altitude fly over of the wind tunnel by an Airbus A350 was a strong signal that ONERA and its F1 wind tunnel are major contributors to the aeronautical industry.
