elsA simulates a complete aircraft in high-lift configuration

A first for the CFD software elsA: the calculation of a complete civil transport aircraft in high-lift configuration

Configuration details: permeable nacelles as well as leading edge slats, flaps and locked-on spoilers.

The overall meshing comprising 37 million points, based on the Chimera* strategy, is the result of assembly with an overlay of various elementary meshings (Cassiopée pre-processing functionality related to elsA).

This precise and innovative method will facilitate the implementation of a number of high-lift configuration simulations.

This calculation has been obtained with ONERA’s Iseran supercomputer.

*Chimera method
A a method of numerical computation that is very suitable for the calculation of the interactions of close bodies moving relative to each other. Meshes – or sub-domains, move and overlap at each moment to reflect the changes in geometry with the movements of the bodies.
